Your support and warm caring in all that we do at Thurgood Marshall College makes our institution even more superb. Thanks to the ongoing support of our college via the Parents Fund, we are able to further enhance your student's experience at UC San Diego by sponsoring nationally and internationally known figures in the arts and social sciences to speak at events and interact with our students in a small group setting. This enrichment of your student's studies demonstrates, among other valuable qualities, the far-reaching implications of their education, involvement, and community and global citizenship.
Previous speakers include two Nobel Laureate writers, Derek Walcott and Wole Soyinka, renowned civil rights activists such as NAACP Chairman Julian Bond and Little Rock Nine member Dr. Terrence Roberts, Pulitzer Prize journalists Nicholas Kristoff and Seymour Hersh, Thurgood Marshall biographer Juan Williams, and a long list of notable artists, from Oscar nominated filmmaker Greg Nava to the father of Chicano Theatre Luis Valdez, television and film celebrities Samuel Goldwyn and David Alan Grier.
