Freshmen Mentee Information Guide & Application
John Muir College – Muir Peer Program

Mentee Information

Muir College would like to offer you the opportunity to connect with a continuing student interested in helping you adjust to life at UCSD!  You will be matched with a mentor who wants to have a personal relationship with a first-year student from Muir.  If you have a special need or concern, your mentor will be there for you.  Please be aware that this not an academic mentorship program.  Its purpose is to connect you with someone who can help ease your transition into college.

You are important to John Muir College!  Join the program and enhance your college experience.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a seasoned Muir student willing to go the extra mile for an incoming Muir student.  He/she is interested in being a friend, answering questions, and serving as a guide to a new student.  A mentor acts as a role model and a resource to his/her mentee.

How does the Muir Peer Mentor Program work?

As a mentee, you will be matched with a mentor of similar interests and goals. After the initial kick-off meeting, it will be up to you and your mentor to set up at least one in-person meeting per quarter (or more, depending on individual need).
