I-House Cares The volunteer arm of I-House works on-campus, in the San Diego community and even Mexico to lend a hand to those in need.¹

Culture Nights Enjoy an evening of food, information and entertainment from a specific region of the world. These are hugely popular events with involvement from the entire I-House community. European Culture Night (Fall), Americas Culture Night (Winter) and Asian Pacific Culture Night (Spring). ¹

IAG The International Affairs Group meets every Monday at 6pm in the Great Hall to address important global issues ranging from the political and economic to the cultural and social.²
Language Cafes These fun and delicious get togethers celebrate the diversity of nationalities and backgrounds we have at I-House. They feature local cuisine from a specific culture mixed with interesting cultural highlights. Although these originally emphasized language (thus the name), now they stress the culinary experience!¹
Language Conversation Tables Come parlez français or German or Mandarin or ASL or many others! Language tables bring native speakers and language learners together from all over campus on a weekly basis in Café Ventanas to speak informally in a foreign language. ²

IHOP The International House of Programming, fondly referred to as IHOP, prepares resident-initiated on and off-campus programs. Events have included trips to Julian, restaurant gatherings, karaoke nights, hikes at Torrey Pines, etc.¹
Sunday Fireside Gatherings Every Sunday night at the Great Hall you can cozy up to the fire, read a good book and sip from your hot tea while chatting with friends.²
Sunday Suppers Join us quarterly for an elegant sit down dinner in the Great Hall with formal entertainment from residents and a talk from a distinguished guest. The suppers provide an opportunity for reflection on the purpose and meaning of I-House and a forum for discussion of important international topics.²
SLAM (Spontaneous Laughter, Art & Music) Whether you’re a musician, poet, dancer, actor or comic, you can show your talent at a SLAM or just revel in the talent of others. There are several SLAMs held per quarter.¹
Global Gourmet Join the chefs of I-House and IR/PS to learn the secrets of international cuisine. These cooking classes take place once a month in the Great Hall kitchen and are sponsored by a grant from OGSR.²

Ask An I-Houser These discussion roundtables bring together residents to talk from their diverse cultural perspectives about particular subjects such as dating, race relations, gay and lesbian issues, just to name a few. ¹
Kultura Newsletter Join the group which puts together the monthly I-House newsletter. Regular features include resident interviews, editorials, and event highlights.²
The International House Camping Trip This is the first big trip that I-House organizes during Fall quarter. This is often some people's first camping experience. Trips have been organized to local beaches or the Laguna Mountains. There is always plenty of great food, fires, kickball and Frisbee games, hikes, conversations, and singing. ¹
I-House Yearbook The tradition of creating a yearbook for I-House is interesting and always a lot of fun! It allows residents to get involved and use their talents in creating the greatest memory that everyone can take back home. The yearbook includes pictures and memories from every event at I-House. In addition there is a chance for residents to submit resident pages that represent their apartment. Also, there are nomination categories further allowing each resident to take an active role in creating their yearbook. ¹
I-House Online Calendar Check out the calendar with all the I-House events you can handle. The I-House online calendar lists events posted by RA's, the Director of I-House, and even you! Residents can add events to the calendar. Once added, an administrator will review the item, and then take it live so all of I-House can see the event.
AND SO MUCH MORE… Traditional events include the winter ski trip and the spring semi formal. You can also get involved in making a book of recipes based on all the wonderful dishes cooked throughout the year or join an I-House intramural team for sports as diverse as football (generally at I-House this means soccer!) and intertube water polo.

¹ Events are sponsored by the Eleanor Roosevelt College Residence Life Office
